CHRISTOPHER
DRESSER OLD HALL HAMPDEN PATTERN AESTHETIC
STYLE POTTERY DISH C.1884-86
"Christopher Dresser
designs are stylish and highly original. A very attractive and
collectable Aesthetic movement Japanese influenced example. These
Old Hall pottery designs are some of the best examples of
Dresser's identified design work for the Staffordshire potters.
The Hampden design pattern illustrates Dresser style at
work in both the shape of this dish, with deep well recess
and in the extravagant Aesthetic style pattern motifs.
Hampden is more often found with black, brown single
colourway. This striking multicoloured variant is particularly
successful. An important design that epitomises the best of
English Staffordshire Victorian art
pottery."Antiques Expert Hamilton

mm max. a shade under 9 inches.
Mark: impressed design
registration RD umber in 'lozenge' and printed pattern name as

Condition: excellent
display example. There is a tight hairline and typical crazing to

super display qualities of this wonderful piece. A fantastic
antique for serious decorative arts collector and a great cabinet
display item.
