GRINDLEY ART DECO RELIEF FLORAL HAND PAINTED DECO LANDSCAPE MILK JUG AND SUGAR BOWL SET C.1925-1935

"A classic relief moulded and hand painted art deco milk jug and sugar bowl set. A fortunate survivor from a Grindley art deco tea set. These rare decorative pieces were made by W.H Grindley and Co. Ltd at the Woodland Pottery, Tunstall, Staffordshire between 1925 and 1935. The relief floral handle to the jug is a decorative feature found on Grindley Ware. These examples, decorated with a cool deco landscape design of simple brush strokes of pastel colours, are classic art deco style for the choice ceramics collection... And ideal for that pretty deco dresser space or display niche." Antiques Expert Hamilton Bear.

References: W.H. Grindley pottery was taken over by Alfred Clough Ltd. in 1960. Unfortunately, many interesting pieces of Grindley Ware were not marked. Good examples of attractive and stylish contemporary art deco Staffordshire decoration by Grindley can be found and identified with persistence and are today highly prized for both collection and display.
