BESWICK
STAFFORDSHIRE ART DECO BALLOON TREE PATTERN
VASE, RARE SHAPE 44 - DESIGNER SYMCOX
C.1933-39
"This fabulous Balloon
Tree pattern Beswick vase is very true to the art deco spirit
of the age. It was designed by Symcox in 1933 and produced
commercially up to 1939. Both pattern and vase shape are quite
rare and a delightful combination. The only example of this type
we have seen. The Balloon Tree pattern is certainly
influenced by similar art deco designs found on contemporary
Clarice Cliff wares. A real cute decorative arts gem that looks
simply great on display."Antiques Expert Hamilton

around 1933-1972 the Beswick range of ornamental wares -
jug-vases, flower holders and planters - offer a stylish and
comprehensive range of decorative shapes from art deco through art
pottery, to some great examples of post war design. They are found

pottery glaze effects; bold hand painted brush strokes of art deco
geometry and large deco daisy head flowers. Some of the 1930s
shapes produced in Beswick jug-vases are arguably among the
English Staffordshire potters art deco best. Often angular,
usually subtle and minimalist: there are well over one hundred
interesting, identified, named designer shapes to collect.
