DERBY PORCELAIN FRAMED NAMED VIEW CERAMIC PLAQUE, "DARLEY GROVE", ATTRIBUTED TO RICHARD ABLOTT C.1825-30
"An interesting, rare and attractive Regency Derby porcelain plaque dating from circa 1825-1830. It is skilfully painted with a delightful named view landscape of Darley Grove - a beauty spot near Derby. The wooden frame is made of Regency mahogany and is probably the original, contemporary with the plaque. This is almost certainly the work of noted 19th century Derby landscape artist Richard Ablott. A great example of a rare Derby porcelain plaque for the appreciative collector of fine antique English porcelain." Antiques Expert Hamilton Bear.

References: For a comparative landscape on Derby by Richard Ablott see, Landscapes on Derby and Worcester Porcelain, J. Twitchett and H. Sandon plate page 35. Examples of Ablott's work at Derby appear rare. Later landscape plaques were also produced while Ablott was at Coalport and Davenport and command high prices.
Dimensions: width ceramic plaque 102 mm max. width with frame 228 mm max.
Marks: Named view title "Darley Grove" in script.
Condition: In excellent display condition with no damage chips, or cracks, or restoration, or staining to porcelain. Minor age-wear to the mahogany frame but overall excellent.
