ENGLISH PORCELAIN VICTORIAN ARTIST ANTON BOULLEMIER: SIGNED HAND PAINTED FIGURE STUDY FAIRY CHILD - STAFFORDSHIRE MINTON PLATE C.1872
"This delicate hand decorated cabinet piece was painted by talented Mintons ceramic artist Anton Boullemier around 1872 on a Mintons bone china porcelain blank/plate. The subject matter Fairy Child is characteristic of Boullemier's popular, decorative, figure studies of cupid like children. Later as a freelance studio artist Anton Boullemier also decorated some of Brown-Westhead, Moore's most prestigious exhibition pieces." Antiques Expert Hamilton Bear.

References: Antonin Boullemier left his native France in 1872 to work at Mintons at the invitation of M.L. Solon. Unquestionably one of the finest of the Victorian ceramic artists - Boullemier worked on many of Mintons' finest commissions including work for Royalty. Examples are illustrated in Victorian Porcelain by Geoffrey A. Godden plates 43,44 and 47.
Dimensions: width 225 mm max.
Marks: Signed by the artist, A. Boullemier to front, Minton mark to back as illustrated.
Condition: In excellent display condition. Condition report: No damage, chips or restoration. No discernible significant wear to painted decoration or gilded rim. Clear fine crazing to glaze - visible under large magnification. Fairly typical and not really a problem: a product of the number of firings needed to decorate the piece. It does not spoil the attractiveness and enjoyment of this beautiful cabinet plate.
