GRAY'S POTTERY SUSIE COOPER STYLE HAND PAINTED ART DECO FLOWER PLATE PATTERN NO. 7141 C.1931-39

"A striking hand painted Art deco flower pattern wall plate decorated by Gray's Pottery on a Johnsons Brothers blank. This classic Susie Cooper style pattern is a wonderful example of art deco period design. This may even be a Susie Cooper design (see below). Such beautiful decoration, in semi-abstract manner, is recommended for the best art deco dresser space or display niche." Antiques Expert Hamilton Bear.

References: Pattern number is 7141. A number of 7000 series patterns have already been attributed to Susie Cooper. This pattern number dates from c.1926-27 during her creative period at Gray's pottery although the backstamp suggests a slightly later date of potting production for this example. Designs remained in production after her departure from Gray's Pottery in 1929.

Marks: to base as illustrated.
Condition: Excellent condition for display with good fresh looking enamel decoration. Professional restoration to two tiny rim chips at 4 o'clock and 7 o'clock. Difficult to spot unless scrutinised closely. This is a wonderful and rare example.
