BELLEEK PORCELAIN SHAMROCK WARE SUGAR BOWL RARE COVERED VERSION, THIRD BLACK MARK 1926-46

"A charming and rare gem of best Belleek Irish porcelain of basket weave moulded form decorated with a pattern of raised and painted shamrock sprays, in the ever popular Shamrock pattern. This Shamrock Ware sugar bowl is complete with original lid and is the rare covered version - not often found in our experience. According to Degendhardt, only available in this large size and only made to special order. Most of these pieces are found as the open sugar without a lid. What a great piece this is for your display cabinet - or to add to your Belleek Shamrock tea set collection... Enjoy!" Antiques Expert Hamilton Bear.

References: In Belleek Porcelain, Marion Langham this shape, reference SHA.022, is categorized as among the rarest Shamrock tea set pattern pieces. See R.K. Degenhardt, Belleek: The Complete Collector's Guide & Illustrated Reference colour plate page 56 item no.19 for an illustration of another covered sugar.
Marks: Belleek third black mark as illustrated.
Dimensions: height with lid 50 mm max. width 88 mm max.
Condition: In excellent general display condition with no restoration. Condition report: There is one tiny chip to the top flange of the bowl: proximity to firing impurity and presence of glazing suggests this may be a firing fault. Also a small flat chip is present to the inside flange of the lid. This does not show when the lid is in place and is easily missed.
